Also called ‘colour therapy’, it can be traced from ancient Egypt, where they used sunlight-filled rooms with coloured glasses for therapeutic purposes. It is an alternate treatment which is given in combination with other therapies. It is based on the concept of using light in the form of a specific colour to balance ” a quantum of energy”, which is lacking from a person’s body, whether it be on the physical, emotional, spiritual, or mental levels. Our brain interprets the wavelengths of the reflected light, which ultimately leads to the perception of colour as a physical and sensory experience. The traditional view was that red improves blood circulation, blue or white cools your body and gets you to sleep, and yellow reduces muscular pain and inflammation.
